The melologue is a musical genre born in the eighteenth century. It is
a genre that sits between the theatre and the concert hall. In Italy
there has recently been a renewed interest in the genre.
The new production of "la compagnia del Tratto", commissioned by "i
Cattivi Maestri", is divided into three segments, three distinguished
melologues, inspired by the literary works of "The Black Trilogy" by
Leo Malet. The music tries to evoke the atmospheres, the tastes, the
vitality, the exhaustion, in fact the Malethian feelings of the
trilogy, with the turbulences and the soothed atmospheres of Malet. It
is impossible not to become emotionally attached to these atmospheres.
The main scene consists of three actors alongside the pianist/composer
Francesco Di Fiore. Throughout the piece the sound of the piano is
processed and at times melts into electronic textures. Between the
melologues there are two transitional movements - two purely
instrumental pieces with a completely non-narrative structure.
